Activities: One of my newest activities includes a game called Chipper Chat. After working on their specific skill area three times the student gets to use a magnetic wand to fill up a pizza, take the ants out of their pants... There are several different games. I bought this from the Super Duper catalog and the kids really seem to like it. It includes trouble shooting ideas. One of my oldest motivators is Drop the Clothespins in the Jar. After practicing the desired skill 3 times the student gets to stand up and have one chance to drop a colored clothes pin in a jar. First one with all their pins in the jar "wins" the game. Trouble Shooting Ideas: 1.When possible- sounds, parts of speech... must be said accurately, without reminders, to get a turn. 2.Students are handed a pin AFTER they have shown three correct sound productions. Otherwise they tend to horse around with the pins when it is not their turn to talk. |
